The Piece that I have chosen for this assignment is the eleventh part of a series by Jason Ratliff called Walking Shadows. The whole series is pretty incredible, but this piece is one that has struck me recently. This piece to me is creative, but at the same time obvious. I find it interesting how the artist has created an idea that who we will become is always in our shadow. And also that if we go deep enough, our potential, and all that we are capable of is inside us from the beginning. I find it entertaining how the artist used that source of light to create the shadow on the wall is the flashlight that the child is holding. In addition in the comic books and movies of batman it is a spotlight in the sky that projects the bat sign, and how the artist used the flashlight to do this as well.
I feel as though batman is alive and has motion because of the lines shapes in his cape. The use of geometrical shapes to create the shadow or image of batman is captivating cause its not just a solid one color like most shadows. Its multiple shades of grey, and the yellow symbol on his chest stands out and makes the image Identifiable as Batman.
If anyone is interested there is also a similar piece in the series that is Superman.
